About
The Herman Project

Our Mission
The Herman Project delivers practical prostate cancer awareness training designed to support earlier understanding, earlier conversations, and earlier action.
Prostate cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting men in the UK, yet awareness of risk factors, symptoms, and when to seek support remains low, particularly in workplaces and communities where routine health engagement is limited and national screening is not offered.
Our training helps people make sense of risk, recognise early warning signs, and feel confident knowing when and how to act. Our one-part sessions are evidence-informed, accessible, and designed for non-clinical audiences, focusing on awareness and prevention rather than diagnosis. The Herman Project works with councils, employers, and organisations across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on supporting male-dominated industries and shift-based, night, and operational workforces who are often excluded from traditional wellbeing initiatives.
By delivering clear, practical, and respectful education surround prostate cancer awareness, we aim to support organisations to meet their duty of care, reduce stigma around men’s health, and contribute to better outcomes through awareness, early action, and culture change.

Prostate Cancer Awareness
One-part Workshop
This session provides a clear, structured overview of prostate cancer and why awareness matters. It is designed to support understanding of risk, early signs, and timely action, whether for yourself or for someone you care about.
Understanding
Susceptibility and Risk
Attendees develop a clear understanding of what prostate cancer is, how common it is, and the factors that can increase risk, including age, family history, ethnicity, and other influences, helping people understand why awareness matters even when there are no obvious symptoms.
Recognising
Early Indicators
Explore why prostate cancer is often diagnosed late, including the silent nature of early symptoms and common misconceptions about risk and investigation. Attention is given to what people should look out for and when concerns are worth acting on.
Encouraging
Early Conversation and Support
Confidence to talk about prostate health is built throughout the session. Attendees are encouraged to feel more comfortable raising concerns, whether with a GP, a partner, family member, or someone they trust and recognise that early conversation supports choice, clarity, and timely support.
